Parental control for parents
Here is a Perl script (well, a tarball) for monitoring your computer use. And displaying a clock. And the current date. And your age in days. And sunrise and sunset times at your location. And maybe even some more.
This was originally a personal tongue-in-cheek project, which was never meant to be released to the general public. But, after some requests for such program from certain third parties, it somehow slipped out into the wild. Alcohol was probably involved.
Nonetheless, what you need to run the script is a working Perl and a bunch of modules from CPAN:
- Astro::Sunrise
- Config::Tiny
- DateTime
- Tk
- X11::IdleTime
(And maybe others, Perl will complain if necessary.)
There are no installation instructions nor Makefiles. I hope you know Perl and your system well enough to suit yourself 🫤
For instructions on parctl
itself try perldoc parctl
, or read them
here.
